Bandhani
Our first love, Bandhani is a form of tie-dye. In Sanskrit, Bandha translates to "Bind or Tie." A resist dyeing art whose process unfolds via plucking and tying the cloth into bindings that form whatever design we wish. The fabric is dipped in dye with the secure ties resisting the colour, often leaving the markings white. This can be done in multi-colours with multiple cycles of tying and dying. The earliest evidence of Bandhani dates back to Indus Valley Civilization as early as 4000 B.C. The earliest example of Bandhani dots can be seen in the 6th century paintings depicting the life of Buddha found at the Ajanta caves, just outside Bombay.
